Approach outcrop via the road Gunnebo - Fermesbo. Park at the parking area of the Badplats Gunnebo.
The roadcut about 100m west of the parking area of the Badplats Gunnebo shows different kinds of xenoliths
in granite. These xenoliths are partly migmatized metasediments of the Västervik-Formation. They are
frequently in sharp contact with the matrix. The xenoliths display stromatic or layered fabrics, which are
characterized by an alternation between light and dark bands. Smaller fragments are partly melted and the
light, quartz- and feldspar-rich neosome flows around the paleosome. The granite is coarse- to very coarse-grained
and gray or red-gray in color.
This outcrop may be interpreted as a rooftop of a granite pluton where magma intruded by stoping into the
metasediments. During this event fragments were falling into the still viscous granite and, if not completely molten,
remained in the igneous rock. The granite contains diffuse patches with higher biotite content, which may be
interpreted as restites, i.e., remnants of almost completely assimilated xenoliths.
